Fahmi Hands Malaysia Day Invitation to Sarawak Governor
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil made a courtesy call on Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri Sarawak in Kuching to present an official invitation to the Malaysia Day celebration. The event will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tomorrow night, with about 5,000 people expected, including the Prime Minister and the Sarawak Premier.

Nancy: 4.89 million women outside labour force, care economy framework 2026-2030 launched
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Nancy Shukri said 4.89 million women are outside the labour force, with 42.8 per cent citing domestic and care responsibilities as the main reason. She announced the Malaysian Care Strategic Framework and Action Plan 2026-2030 to strengthen the care economy and boost women's participation in the labour market.

Anwar arrives in Maldives for two-day official visit
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at Velana International Airport in the Maldives last night to begin a two-day official visit. He was received by President Mohamed Muizzu and said he hoped the trip would strengthen Malaysia-Maldives ties built over nearly six decades.

New MyKad applications open Sept 17, no need to rush, says Saifuddin
Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has advised Malaysians not to rush to National Registration Department offices to replace their MyKad when applications for the new version open on Sept 17. The new card carries about 50 additional security features and will be rolled out in phases, with existing MyKads remaining valid. He also said JPN handles 13,000 to 15,000 unregistered birth cases each year.

KPKM will not compromise on governance and integrity, says Mohamad Sabu

Anwar and Muizzu hold talks in Male, set to witness MoU exchange
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu at the President's Office in Male on Wednesday, opening with a 20-minute one-on-one before bilateral talks on trade, investment and people-to-people ties. Chief Justice: judiciary built on judges' character, not grand courthouses
At reference proceedings at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said the judiciary's standing comes from the character and conduct of judges, not from imposing buildings. AGC objects to judicial review bid over diesel subsidy targeting
The Attorney General's Chambers objected to a leave application for judicial review by two individuals against the Prime Minister and three ministers over the removal of diesel subsidies in Peninsular Malaysia. The High Court was told the subsidy decision is not subject to judicial review as it is an executive policy matter, and the issue is now academic after subsidies were standardised on July 1.

Zambry: Auku replacement Act being fast-tracked, briefings held with select committee
Higher education minister Zambry Abd Kadir said the ministry is expediting the drafting of a new Act to replace the Universities and University Colleges Act (Auku) 1971, retaining provisions on university establishment. Briefings are being held with the parliamentary select committee on nation building, education and human resources development. Najib's pardon deferral was lawful, not personal: Anwar

AUKU repeal talks go to Parliament special committee

The Malaysia Cooperative Commission (SKM) has appointed Mohd Marzuki Yusoa' as its new Chief Executive Officer effective yesterday. With over 26 years of experience in the cooperative movement, he will lead SKM's daily management and ensure policies and development programmes are carried out effectively. Zhulkarnain makes working visit to Egypt, discusses cooperation on 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties
Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs) Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim made a two-day working visit to Cairo, Egypt from 14 to 15 September. He met Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and discussed bilateral cooperation as Singapore and Egypt mark 60 years of diplomatic relations. This was his first visit to Egypt since being appointed in January.

NCER targets RM470 billion in investments by 2030
The Northern Corridor Economic Region is targeting RM470 billion in cumulative investments by 2030 under its newly launched Strategic Development Plan 2026-2030. The plan covers Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak and aims to lift regional GDP to RM369 billion and create 310,000 jobs. Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the blueprint translates the 13th Malaysia Plan into a regional growth strategy.

Government announces 250MW FiT quota for 2027, expects RM3bil investment
PETRA announced a new 250MW quota under the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) programme for 2027, expected to generate RM3 billion in investment and over 5,000 jobs. The quota is offered to renewable energy developers in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan, with applications via e-bidding on the SEDA Malaysia website from Feb 3 to March 24, 2027.
