Serian API hits very unhealthy 220, 11 areas nationwide unhealthy
Serian in Sarawak recorded the country's highest Air Pollutant Index reading of 220 as of 5.30pm, up from 195 at 8am. Eleven areas logged unhealthy API levels, ten of them in Sarawak and one in Johor, while 47 areas nationwide recorded moderate readings.

Serian records API 220, only 'very unhealthy' area in Malaysia
Serian in Sarawak recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 220 as of 5pm, the only area in Malaysia in the 'very unhealthy' category. Fifteen other stations recorded unhealthy readings, including Tebedu (199), Lubok Antu (198) and Lundu (197), attributed to dry weather in southern Asean and hotspots in Kalimantan and Sumatra.

Sarawak haze: Serian very unhealthy, 10 other areas unhealthy
Sarawak remained hazy today with 11 locations in the state among the top 15 for poor air quality. Serian recorded a very unhealthy API of 216 as of 3.30pm, while 10 other Sarawak areas had unhealthy readings ranging from 151 to 184, led by Samarahan at 184 and Kuching at 182.

Sarawak seeks frequent cloud seeding as hotter October looms
Sarawak has asked the National Disaster Management Agency to carry out cloud seeding as soon and as often as conditions allow, to replenish water levels at its dams before hotter weather expected in October. Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah Embas said the state had discussed the matter with Nadma after limited success from earlier operations, and that he had not yet received the latest readings for the Batang Ai, Bakun and Murum dams.

Heavy rain sends Singapore temperature down to 22.4 deg C
Heavy rain across central Singapore on Sept 11 pushed the temperature down to 22.4 deg C, recorded at Scotts Road at 3.51pm, where 103mm of rain fell. PUB issued flash-flood alerts for several roads including Thomson Road and Stevens Road, while NEA forecast thundery showers over northern, eastern and central Singapore into the afternoon.

Serian in Sarawak recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 202 at 11am on Sept 11, again entering the very unhealthy range. It was the highest in Sarawak, while 15 other monitoring stations recorded unhealthy readings.

Selangor API stays moderate, Sarawak records 11 unhealthy stations
Air quality at six Selangor monitoring stations remained moderate as of 9am, with Johan Setia highest at 99. Sarawak recorded 11 unhealthy stations led by IPD Serian at 197, while Politeknik Kota Kinabalu was 150, Pasir Gudang 109 and Labuan 103. Nationwide, 49 stations were moderate and five good.

Eleven are in Sarawak, including IPD Serian (197), Kuching (181) and Samarahan (179), while the others are Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic in Sabah (150), Pasir Gudang in Johor (109) and the Federal Territory of Labuan (103).

Air quality across Singapore has returned to the moderate range, with the 24-hour PSI in the central region at 97 as at 7am on Sept 11 after hitting a high of 106 on Sept 10. NEA says smoke plumes from fires in southern and central Sumatra and Kalimantan are still being observed, and warns haze could return if the fires persist under prevailing winds.

MetMalaysia warns temperatures may hit 41°C next year as Super El Niño looms
Malaysia's Meteorological Department expects temperatures in several parts of the country to exceed 40 degrees Celsius next year as a record-strength Super El Niño peaks. Its director-general said the extreme heat will likely coincide with the March-April equinox, raising fears of a water supply crisis from prolonged dry weather.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms hit Kuala Lumpur, easing haze
Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across parts of Kuala Lumpur, with reports of flooding, fallen trees and worsening traffic in areas including Jalan Duta, Bangsar, Ampang, Taman Melawati and Taman Melati. Social media users welcomed the downpour as relief from weeks of haze, while warning of flash floods and a fallen tree in Taman Melati.

Air quality across Sarawak improved on Sept 10, with all monitored areas recording API readings below 200 as of 1pm. Sarikei had the highest reading at 189, followed by Lundu at 185 and Serian at 182, while Bario recorded the lowest at 62.

DBKL cuts Kuala Lumpur flood-risk areas from 30 to 14
DBKL has reduced the number of flood-risk areas in Kuala Lumpur from 30 to 14 through early prevention and continuous monitoring. Sikambut and Sungai Toba are now under special watch, with river and drain cleaning stepped up. APM received an extra RM30,000 for personnel welfare during flash-flood operations.

MetMalaysia: No Evidence Anak Krakatau Ash Entered Malaysian Airspace
MetMalaysia has denied claims that volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau's eruption in Indonesia entered Malaysian airspace, saying the ash is moving towards the Indian Ocean. Its director-general also said Malaysia is in a normal El Nino phase expected to strengthen by March-April next year, especially in the northern peninsula states.

Actor Badron Munirah has voiced concern for his family's safety in Mukah, Sarawak, after haze pushed the Air Pollutant Index in several parts of Sarawak to unhealthy levels. Heavy rain warning for Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Johor until 1pm
MetMalaysia has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for five Malaysian states until 1pm today. The affected districts include Langkawi, Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar in Kedah; Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Manjung and Bagan Datuk in Perak; Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Klang in Selangor; and Pontian, Kulai, Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi in Johor. The public and motorists are advised to stay alert due to the risk of flash floods and wind damage.
