RENN Asia Wellness gives 1,000 Malaysians free health checks worth RM500,000
A wellness centre in Kuala Lumpur is offering free health screenings worth RM500,000 to the first 1,000 Malaysians, available until Nov 30 or while the allocation lasts. The checks, part of the government's Hari Kebangsaan Hari Malaysia campaign, cover arterial stiffness, vitamin and mineral analysis and microcirculation. The founder said preventive health should be routine rather than a response to feeling unwell.

Trade chief: Don't buy tyres online on price alone
Malaysian Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Ng Kian Weng warned consumers in Seremban that cheap foreign tyres bought online may lack safety and quality guarantees. FIF Mr Perak 2026 introduces OKU and Body Transformation categories
FIF Mr Perak 2026 will introduce special categories for persons with disabilities (OKU) and Body Transformation at its inaugural edition in Perak. Eleven OKU athletes will be recognised as champions without competing, while Body Transformation participants only need to submit a before-and-after comparison video. The championship also offers eight free exhibition spaces to Perak SMEs.

500 attend smart farming and black pepper course in Tambunan
More than 500 people joined a smart farming and black pepper cultivation course in Tambunan, Sabah, organised by Sawit Kinabalu. The course, held for the first time at SMK Tambunan, introduced farmers and agro-entrepreneurs to technology such as smartphones and CCTV for crop monitoring. Deputy Chairman Datuk Victor P Paut said the approach, inspired by farming in Hokkaido, Japan, could help Tambunan become a modern agricultural hub.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing said he will meet Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh next week to discuss turning Petaling Street into a food street. Speaking at the 2026 MCA Hall National Mid-Autumn Festival at Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur, he suggested the federal government emulate Singapore and called on businesses to open their shops to prevent the area from becoming a dead street.

Samsung Singapore holds first Galaxy Walkathon at The Kallang with over 610 participants
Samsung Electronics Singapore held its first Galaxy Walkathon on Sept 13 at The Kallang, drawing more than 610 participants. The 5km walk supported the Singapore Heart Foundation's heart health movement and celebrated SG61, with participants clocking 6.1 million steps. Samsung will donate to the foundation and the event is part of a multi-year partnership with The Kallang Group to promote active living through technology.

In Kampung Permatang Berangan, Sungai Petani, a padi farmer harvests about 13.6 tonnes of padi each season, another sells ulam to nearby shops and a fisherman catches about 3.5 kilogrammes of prawns a day. All three contribute to the country's food supply.
