Grab to grow AV fleet to 50 vehicles, expand beyond Punggol
Grab will expand its autonomous vehicle fleet from 10 to 50 over the next six months and is preparing an on-demand point-to-point service in Punggol, with plans to extend to other parts of Singapore subject to regulatory approval. The company says its AVs have travelled over 110,000km and served more than 12,000 riders, and it is working with LTA on a depot and new AV roles.

Tampines bus delays under Go-Ahead Singapore raise commuter complaints, MP Baey Yam Keng says
Commuters in Tampines have complained of longer waits and poorer reliability since Go-Ahead Singapore took over the area's bus services. Tampines GRC MP Baey Yam Keng said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 13) that service quality has declined since the SBS Transit era, and Go-Ahead Singapore said about 40 per cent of its drivers are new and need time to learn the routes.

Government wants more M.V.15 inspection centres opened nationwide
The government is encouraging more Motor Vehicle Inspection Centres (PPKM) dedicated to ownership-transfer (M.V.15) inspections for private vehicles to open nationwide. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the number of operators is not capped and any company meeting the conditions may apply for a licence. He spoke at the launch of the CARSOME Academy M.V.15 Inspection Centre in Sungai Buloh.

Penang ferries free for Malaysians on Malaysia Day
The Penang Port Commission and Penang Port Sdn Bhd will offer free ferry rides to Malaysians on September 16 for Malaysia Day and the Keretapi Sarong Festival. The offer covers both terminals, Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim in Seberang Perai and Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda in George Town, saving pedestrians RM2 and two-wheeled vehicle users RM2.50 per one-way trip.

Heavy vehicles can park overnight at industrial and commercial sites from Sept 15
From Sept 15, heavy vehicle owners in Singapore can park overnight at industrial facilities, authorised work sites and commercial properties under a new lodgement service, provided they have the consent of the premises owner. The Land Transport Authority said the move expands the existing Vehicle Parking Certificate scheme, and vehicles are still barred from public roads and residential estates.

Four agencies to back medical flights in remote Sarawak - Dzulkefly
Four enforcement agencies will help the Health Ministry run mercy flights to remote parts of Sarawak while the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash is investigated. Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the service cannot stay suspended too long. He spoke after accompanying the remains of Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin at Al Karomah Mosque in Pengkalan Chepa.

China Southern to resume direct Delhi-Guangzhou flights from Sept 21
China Southern Airlines has announced it will restart direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou from September 21, planning more than 100 weekly services. The move comes after about six years and as Chinese President Xi Jinping visits India for the BRICS summit in Delhi. Air India resumed its own China-Delhi service in February.

Free defensive riding workshops for platform workers, 1,400 targeted in two years
Singapore's three driving schools will run free monthly defensive riding workshops for food delivery and courier riders, starting with sessions at the Singapore Safety Driving Centre in Woodlands. Second Minister for Home Affairs Sim Ann announced the Ride Smart, Ride Safe programme on Sept 12 at the National Bikers' Weekend, with the Government aiming to reach 1,400 platform workers over two years.

RapidKL will run free shuttle buses during Phase 1 of track replacement works on the Kelana Jaya Line. The buses will operate between Wangsa Maju, Taman Melati and Gombak from 6am to 9.30am on Sept 13, 20 and 27. Commuters are advised to use the designated waiting points and allow extra travel time.

Police hunt driver who fled after car skidded into drain on Marsiling Road
A driver abandoned his car after it skidded into a drain along Marsiling Road towards Marsiling Drive early on Sep 11. Police were alerted at about 3:15am and are still trying to trace him. A witness said the driver appeared drunk, asked people not to report the crash, and ran off before officers arrived.

Landslide near Menora Tunnel on NSE; all lanes reopened
A landslide occurred at KM263.6 of the North-South Expressway southbound, about 2km past the Menora Tunnel, yesterday afternoon. The left lane was temporarily closed and all lanes were reopened to motorists at 7pm after clean-up works. No injuries or property damage were reported, and PLUS Malaysia and authorities are monitoring the slope.

MRT reliability at record high in August, Downtown Line most reliable
Singapore's MRT network recorded its best reliability yet in August, with trains averaging 2.88 million train-km between delays of more than five minutes over the 12 months to August 2026, the LTA said. The Downtown Line became the most reliable line at 8.37 million train-km, while no major delays over 30 minutes occurred on the mature lines. Punctuality dipped slightly, with 99.62 per cent of services running on schedule.

Batik Air proposes Subang-Miri, Subang-Sibu flights by year-end
Batik Air is seeking regulatory approval for direct flights from Subang to Miri and Sibu, with services possibly starting by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Sarawak Transport Minister Lee Kim Shin said the proposed routes would add travel options between Sarawak and the Klang Valley, and urged Batik Air to also consider intra-Sarawak and international routes.

Video of FDS workers' final wave before Baram helicopter crash goes viral
A viral video shows the final wave of Air Doctor Service (FDS) workers from a helicopter window to residents in rural Baram, Sarawak before the aircraft crashed last Tuesday. The BO-105 helicopter belonging to Layang-Layang Aerospace crashed near Long Lellang Airport, killing pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham and four health workers.

LTA: 46 personal mobility devices seized in August enforcement, about 231 offences found
Singapore's Land Transport Authority said 46 non-compliant personal mobility devices were seized in enforcement operations across various locations in August, with about 231 offences detected. Photos shared showed modified electric scooters and cyclists, including some pursued by traffic police on West Coast Avenue on Aug 14. LTA also said it plans to strengthen fire-safety measures under the Land Transport and Related Matters Bill, introduced in Parliament on Sept 8.

EgyptAir plans first direct Singapore-Cairo flights from early 2027
EgyptAir has announced plans to launch a direct service linking Cairo, Singapore and Sydney from early 2027, which would be Singapore's first direct air link to North Africa.
