Retail group urges phased GST restart in 2027 budget, tax reliefs for retail
Malaysia's retail chain association has called on the government to restart GST in stages in the 2027 budget, starting at a lower rate and raising it every five years. It also proposed scrapping sales tax on locally made goods, extending the RM1,000 domestic tourism tax relief to 2027, and tightening e-commerce and low-value goods tax enforcement.
