The handover and rank ceremony was held at the Sentul district police headquarters, witnessed by Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus. Former Buycar2u director charged with 71 counts of cheating RM4.7mil
A former director of a used-car trading company, Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty at three Sessions Courts in Kuala Lumpur to 71 cheating charges involving RM4.7 million. The charges relate to businessman Wong Yoong Jed and transactions at several bank branches in Kuala Lumpur between 5 July and 3 August 2022. The court set bail totalling RM215,000 with one surety and fixed mention for 16 October.

The Fox King opens in Malaysian cinemas on Sept 17
The Malaysian-Indonesian film The Fox King will open nationwide in Malaysian cinemas on Sept 17, after screenings at festivals in Toronto, Busan and Udine. Directed by Woo Ming Jin, the film draws on his childhood with an identical twin and follows twin brothers with a telepathic bond.

Police probe insider link in RM2.91 million robbery at Pavilion Embassy
Police are investigating whether an insider was involved in a group robbery that caused RM2.91 million in losses at a luxury condominium on Jalan Ampang on 7 September. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the case is linked to the victim himself, and police have identified suspects but made no arrests yet.

MOTAC to seek allocations for state tourism upgrades, says Tiong
MOTAC will push for funding to help state governments upgrade existing tourist spots and develop new ones, its minister Tiong King Sing said at the opening of the Malaysia Cultural Festival 2026 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur. A two-day Parliament open day that began yesterday drew 11,280 visitors, above the initial target of 10,000. Dewan Negara president Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah said it was the programme's best showing since it began in 2023. The event aims to bring Parliament closer to the people by letting the public see the proceedings inside the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara.

Man stabbed in the back while working at Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market
A man in his 30s was stabbed in the back with a sharp metal object while working at the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market yesterday morning. He was taken to Selayang Hospital and is in stable condition, and police in Sentul are investigating the motive. A 47-second video of the injured man went viral on social media.

Former minister expected to be charged in KL Sessions Court tomorrow over TH RCI
