Toddler nearly drowns at SingPost Centre swim class; father jumps in to save him
A three-and-a-half-year-old boy nearly drowned during a swimming lesson at Little Splashes Aquatics' SingPost Centre outlet in Singapore on Sep 6. His father, who had been watching from a viewing area, jumped into the pool to pull him out, and the family has lodged a police report plus complaints with MOM and Sport Singapore. The school has suspended the instructor.

Driver pleads guilty to dangerous driving after 221 km/h six-car road trip
A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty in Singapore to dangerous driving after a six-car road trip on 27 October 2024, during which he reached 221 km/h on the Central Expressway and caused two collisions. He and a 22-year-old female passenger were injured. The case was adjourned to 14 September for mitigation and sentencing.

Autistic student Danish Qastalani receives Lee Kuan Yew Exemplary Student Award
Danish Qastalani Mohamad Shahrin, 17, an autistic student, received the Lee Kuan Yew Exemplary Student Award at the University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore, on 31 August. His mother, Mdm Sapiah Yahaya, 62, is proud that Danish now travels independently by bus and MRT and does vocational training at a hotel in Orchard Road. The award recognises students in government-funded special education schools who overcome challenges.

NUS student wins Prime Minister's Book Award for bilingual effort
A National University of Singapore (NUS) student received the Prime Minister's Book Award at the NUS University Cultural Centre on 31 August. She was the only Malay/Muslim pre-university recipient at the Ministry of Education Special Awards ceremony, where 211 awards were given out. She hopes her experience will encourage other Malay students to value language and culture.

Tan Kiat How: Artistes may voice humanitarian concerns but must not undermine public order
In Singapore's parliament on Thursday, Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How said artistes may express humanitarian concerns about international conflicts but must not undermine public order, security or stability in Singapore. He stressed Singapore should not be used by foreigners as a platform for political causes, and that local and foreign artistes must abide by Singapore's laws and arts entertainment licence conditions. He was replying to MP Hazlina Abdul Halim on how authorities distinguish prohibited political advocacy from expressions of humanitarian concern.

CEO's $468k suit against ex-girlfriend dismissed by High Court
Singapore's High Court dismissed a claim by Chander Agarwal, CEO of India-listed TCI Express, to recover $468,090 he spent on former girlfriend Felicia Lee during their relationship. Senior Judge Lee Seiu Kin ruled most of the sums were gifts, not loans, and that Agarwal had failed to prove two other amounts. The couple met on a flight in 2019 and dated from September 2022 to December 2023.

Man, 51, found dead on bench in Jalan Besar alley; police investigating
A 51-year-old man was found motionless on a bench in an alley off Jalan Besar, Singapore, on Sep. 7 and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they do not suspect foul play and investigations are ongoing. A cleaner had seen the man sleeping there the previous day and called police after finding him unresponsive.

Man, 32, arrested at Tiong Bahru Plaza after struggle with police; wanted for drug offences
A 32-year-old man was arrested at Tiong Bahru Plaza on Sep. 7 during a routine police patrol. He was found to be wanted for drug-related offences and had a vaporiser in his possession. He struggled during the arrest and was subdued with necessary force; the case has been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Health Sciences Authority.

Six men to be charged for separate molestation cases across Singapore
Six men aged 23 to 76 will be charged on Sep. 10 for separate cases of outrage of modesty in Singapore. The incidents occurred between May 2025 and July 2026 at locations including Victoria Street, Bayfront Avenue, and Boat Quay. Police arrested the men either at the scene or after follow-up investigations.

SDP raises concern over charges against Jolovan Wham and Elijah Tay
Singapore Democratic Party chair Paul Tambyah said the party has deep concerns about police action against activists Jolovan Wham and Elijah Tay.
