Akmal: UMNO Youth reps who underperform or are hard to reach will not be renominated
UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said elected representatives from the wing who underperform, put personal interests first or are hard to contact will not be renominated in the next general election. Speaking at the UMNO Youth General Assembly 2026 at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, he also announced the wing will adopt the child of the late Maran UMNO Youth division chief Mohd Radzi Rahimi, with RM36,000 placed in an SSPN account for the five-year-old.

11 police reports filed, foreign vagrant detained for scratching cars at TRX
A 34-year-old foreign man believed to be homeless was detained after cars were scratched at a parking area near The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur. Police received 11 reports, including three from TRX management, with losses estimated at RM3,000. The suspect is remanded for four days and will be sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a mental examination.

Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah closed 322 days for Mutiara LRT works
MRT Corp announced that Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town will have a 322-day traffic diversion from Sept 12, 2026 to July 31, 2027 for piling and structural works on the Mutiara Line LRT. Jalan Magazine will also be partially closed from 10pm on Sept 14 to 5am on Oct 5 for road widening and utility relocation.

Police seize 51.686kg of MDMA worth RM7.75 million at Jalan Ceylon condo
Dang Wangi police seized 51.686kg of MDMA powder worth RM7.75 million in a raid on a condominium unit at Jalan Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur on 19 August. Five people were arrested, including two male and two female foreign nationals and one local man, and all suspects were charged in court on 2 September.

Penang City Council mayor Datuk Rajendran P Anthony will be called as a prosecution witness in the corruption trial of former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng. High Court sets Sept 17 for additional evidence in Rosmah's solar hybrid graft appeal
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has fixed Sept 17 to hear additional evidence from star prosecution witness Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah in Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's solar hybrid project graft appeal. The Court of Appeal had allowed Rosmah's application to adduce additional evidence, but the prosecution has filed a stay application and a notice of appeal to the Federal Court.

Remand on Azeez not extended, ex-Tabung Haji chairman to be freed today
Kuala Lumpur: Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim is expected to be released this evening after police failed to extend his remand. His lawyer said the application for a further three days under Section 420 of the Penal Code was rejected, and Azeez is due out before 5pm.
