Lorry driver threatens suicide after JPJ Selangor summons on PLUS highway
A lorry driver became angry and threatened to end his life after being issued a summons during a JPJ Selangor commercial vehicle operation on the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh today. Two express bus drivers also gave excuses of not knowing the lane rules, while another admitted driving in the right lane to rush a cargo delivery.

LTdL organisers prepare alternative routes for haze risk
Organisers of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026 are preparing for possible haze, rain and floods during the race from 27 September to 4 October. LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said alternative routes are ready and any decision will follow UCI rules, including stopping or cancelling a stage if API readings are too high. PKBM president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said rider health must come first.

National squad aim to be more than also-rans at LTdL 2026
Malaysia's national road cycling squad unveiled four core riders for Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 at a media conference at the National Sports Council in Kuala Lumpur. KL police propose KK Mart stores as GTSP safety points
Kuala Lumpur police are proposing to turn about 700 KK Mart outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor into Go-To-Safety-Points where the public can seek emergency help. Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the partnership would include joint patrols and possibly access to the chain's central CCTV feed. The proposal was announced at the opening of a KK Mart branch at the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters.

MIAPEX 2026 in Seri Kembangan targets RM12 million in sales

Four remanded five days over RM1.8m animal feed false claims
Four people, including an enforcement agency personnel, were remanded for five days by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court over allegedly false documents in animal feed supply claims worth RM1.8 million. The suspects, aged 40 to 60, were detained after giving statements at the Kuala Lumpur MACC office, and the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

GOF seizes RM1.9mil in smuggled cigarettes in Klang raid
The General Operations Force seized over RM1.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in a raid on a premises in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, on Tuesday. A 52-year-old man suspected of being the courier was arrested, and 4,920 cartons of untaxed cigarettes plus a Nissan Almera were seized. The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967 and the suspect and goods were taken to the Klang Utara district police headquarters.

JPJ detains driver using employer's Vellfire as illegal taxi at KLIA
A 53-year-old man was detained by Selangor JPJ at Terminal 2 of KLIA for offering unlicensed taxi services to four Myanmar and Bangladesh passengers. The Toyota Vellfire used belonged to his employer and was registered as a private vehicle. The case is being investigated under the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

Selangor Sultan launches book by ex-prisoner who earned PhD
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor launched the book 'PhD Dari Penjara' at Pustaka Raja Tun Uda in Kuala Lumpur on 10 September. It tells the story of Dr Malik Yatam, 39, who earned a business administration PhD from Open University Malaysia in May 2025 while serving a life sentence at Kajang Prison. He also received a Malaysia Book of Records recognition as the first Malaysian prisoner to earn a PhD behind bars.

OMODA Jaecoo Malaysia has launched the Jaecoo J5 EV, its first fully electric model here, priced at RM118,800 on-the-road without insurance. The single-variant EV is locally assembled at Chery Corporate Malaysia's plant in Shah Alam, offering up to 402km of WLTP range from a 58.9kWh battery. Crest Builder Holdings Bhd's wholly owned unit Cbtech (M) Sdn Bhd has secured a RM56.88 million contract for electrical works at a commercial development in Bandar Sri Damansara, Selangor. The contract, awarded by Pesona Metro Sdn Bhd, covers Phase 1A (a 14-storey retail mall) and Phase 1C (a 40-storey office tower) on Lot 73013, Persiaran Perdana. Work starts Sept 1, 2026, and is scheduled for completion by March 17, 2028.

A Malaysian forum on Sept 22 will look at long-term care planning for neurodivergent adults whose ageing parents have been their main carers. The organiser of Konsert Spideraya has moved the Spider concert from Stadium Hoki Bukit Jalil to Idea Live Arena in Petaling Jaya. B7 Resources Sdn Bhd said the change was made because of air pollution, unstable weather and the current haze, but the date and time remain unchanged. Tickets already bought are still valid.

Chief Justice: judiciary built on judges' character, not grand courthouses
At reference proceedings at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said the judiciary's standing comes from the character and conduct of judges, not from imposing buildings. Muhyiddin's lawyer accuses MACC officer of intimidation over police report
At the Kuala Lumpur High Court, lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad accused MACC officer Mazery Mohd Zaini of attempting to intimidate him through a police report lodged by a colleague. Private hospitals group says no tolerance for abuse of medical staff
The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia has declared zero tolerance for verbal abuse, threats or harassment of medical staff at public and private hospitals. Its president Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh said complaints should be channelled through proper platforms, while staff must also treat patients with respect. The Hospital Staff and Patient Safety Conference at the KLGCC Convention Centre drew about 160 health experts from Malaysia and Australia.

A robotics team from SMK Chung Hua Miri won the RoboSports Double Tennis category at the National Robotics Competition (NRC) 2026 held at INTI International University in Seremban on 6-10 September. The win qualifies them to represent Malaysia at the World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico.

AGC objects to judicial review bid over diesel subsidy targeting
The Attorney General's Chambers objected to a leave application for judicial review by two individuals against the Prime Minister and three ministers over the removal of diesel subsidies in Peninsular Malaysia. The High Court was told the subsidy decision is not subject to judicial review as it is an executive policy matter, and the issue is now academic after subsidies were standardised on July 1.

Four children who fell into Kulim drain buried in single grave
Four children who fell into a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kulim last night have completed post-mortems at the Forensic Department of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar. Their bodies will be taken back to Kulim for burial in a single grave at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Masjid Sungai Karangan today. The incident happened when they tried to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the drain.

Actor Farouk Hussain's father dies at Sungai Buloh Hospital
The father of actor Farouk Hussain, Mohd Hussain Mohd Sultan, died at Sungai Buloh Hospital at 5.03pm last Saturday. Farouk said his father had no chronic illness but had been frail from severe cataracts, dementia and a broken hip after falling in his room.
