Mondelez invests RM90mil in Shah Alam Cadbury plant, adds Crumb Tower
Mondelez International has invested RM90 million in its Cadbury confectionery plant in Shah Alam, Selangor, launching a new Crumb Tower that lets the factory produce chocolate crumb locally instead of importing it from South Africa and Australia. Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the investment shows confidence in the state as a long-term manufacturing base, while Mondelez's Malaysia and Singapore managing director Simon Crowther said it strengthens self-sufficiency and Shah Alam's role in the regional network.

Woman hurt as car flips after hitting raised road fixture in Petaling Jaya
A 46-year-old woman was injured when her Honda City overturned after its left tyre struck a raised metal road fixture on Jalan Gasing-Jalan Templer in Petaling Jaya at about 7.10am. She was taken to Assunta Hospital for a leg injury. Police say the poorly maintained fixture caused the crash and are investigating under the Road Traffic Rules.

Preacher charged with keeping nude photos, porn videos on two phones
An independent preacher pleaded not guilty at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court to two charges of possessing nude photographs and pornographic videos on two mobile phones. The alleged offence took place at the Shah Alam district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department on July 1 last year. Bail was set at RM5,000 with one surety and the case will be mentioned again on Oct 27.

Man fined RM2,000 for stealing 65 items from Subang Jaya supermarket
A 39-year-old man was fined RM2,000 by the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court after pleading guilty to stealing 65 items worth RM730.97 from a supermarket in Subang Jaya on 20 December last year. Mohd Aslizan Mustafa Maarof was also ordered to serve 10 days in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

MHC tells national hockey players to ignore negative social media posts

Malaysia Hockey Confederation wants the national men's team in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games final, where gold earns a place at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Kim Pan Gon urges FAM to replace empty-stadium bans with fines
Selangor FC coach Kim Pan Gon has urged FAM to consider other punishments instead of ordering matches to be played in an empty stadium. He said supporters are the heart of football and the ban hurts the team. Selangor played without fans at Stadium MBPJ in the second leg of the FA Cup round of 16 against Sabah FC.

GWM Malaysia renews Malayan Xpedition partnership, subsidised entry for Tank owners
GWM Malaysia has renewed its partnership with Malayan Xpedition for 2026 through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at PARC Subang on August 19. Safwan and Noshazwani named best athletes of Para SUKMA Selangor 2026
The closing ceremony of Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) in Shah Alam saw Selangor swimmer Muhammad Safwan Suhaimi named Best Male Athlete after taking six golds and one bronze. Sarawak athletics athlete Noshazwani Maisara Marzuki, 23, was named Best Female Athlete with two golds and a silver, including two games records in F37 javelin and shot put.

Selangor overall champions of Para SUKMA 2026, Amirudin hopes athletes reach world title
The closing ceremony of Para SUKMA 2026 was held at the Selangor International Trade Centre (STIC), with Selangor emerging as overall champions for the first time since the games began in 1982. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he hopes national para athletes will go on to become world champions, and noted the age limit of under 40 for athletes. Selangor collected 93 golds, 55 silvers and 52 bronzes, followed by Sabah and Sarawak.

Sarawak para bowlers bag six golds at Para SUKMA Selangor
Sarawak's para tenpin bowling squad won six gold medals at Para SUKMA Selangor 2026, beating its pre-Games target of five. The haul at Sunway Mega Lanes included singles titles for Rosserrine Issawell Manong Raymond and Mohamad Yakup Winei, plus a doubles contribution from Farthin Zafirah Zaidi and Nurfariesyah Adriana Fairul. Shah Alam gang clash murder: 3 of 7 wanted suspects arrested
Three of seven suspects wanted over a gang clash murder in Taman Alam Megah, Section 28, Shah Alam, last month have been arrested. Selangor police chief Shaseli Kahhar said the arrests were made between September 4 and 7 based on public information after photos were released. Police are still hunting the remaining four suspects.

Nik Muhammad Hashraff Muazzam Mohd Hilmi won the men's singles SU5 (physical disability) gold at the Selangor 2026 Para Malaysia Games at the Selangor State Youth and Sports Complex in Shah Alam. The 19-year-old beat Sabah's Gerald H. Simbaku VII 21-23, 21-10, 21-10 after receiving tips from Paralympic champion Cheah Liek Hou. The win made up for disappointments in the previous two editions.

Three more charged with murder of 23-year-old at illegal gathering in Taman Alam Megah
Three more alleged gang members were charged in the Magistrate's Court in Shah Alam today with murdering a 23-year-old man during an illegal gathering last month. The charges bring the total number of people charged in the case to 11, after eight men were charged with the same offence last week. The offence was allegedly committed at 1.59pm on Aug 25 at Jalan Mandolin 33/5 in Taman Alam Megah, and the court fixed Nov 24 for mention.

BERSIH demands Najib serve remaining jail term, rejects house arrest
BERSIH is demanding that Datuk Seri Najib Razak serve the rest of his prison sentence and is opposing any move by the Pardons Board to grant the former prime minister house arrest. Its executive director, Asraf Sharafi, said this at a press conference at BERSIH's office in Petaling Jaya, a day before the board meets. He argued that special treatment for high-profile individuals would create a dangerous double standard and undermine the rule of law.
