JPJ postpones enforcement of retrofit SLD installation, new date to be announced
JPJ has postponed the third-phase enforcement of retrofitting Speed Limitation Devices (SLDs) for vehicles without the device, originally set for July 1, 2026. The new date will be announced later, giving commercial vehicle owners more time to prepare. Seven JPJ-approved installation workshops have been appointed, six in Kota Bharu and one in Tanah Merah.

KPKM: immature padi behind 46.2pc grading rate at Bukit Kenak rice mill
Malaysia's Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security says a high content of immature or green padi, at 23.8 per cent, was the main cause of the 46.2 per cent grading rate at the BERNAS rice mill in Bukit Kenak, Terengganu. It says quality checks followed Malaysian Standard MS 84:2017 and that farmers signed the Padi Quality Certificate before purchases were confirmed. The issue drew attention after a farmer's complaint circulated on social media.

Former project manager charged with CBT over RM14,000 Tabung Haji project penalties
A former construction project manager pleaded not guilty in the Kota Bharu Sessions Court to criminal breach of trust involving RM14,000 in penalties collected from a contractor for a Tabung Haji commercial building project. Mohamad Hashim Mukhatap, 53, is accused of depositing the funds into his personal account between November 2017 and August 2018 at Sofea Residensi in Kota Bharu. The court set bail at RM8,000 and fixed October 19 for mention.

Two ex-Tabung Haji executives to be charged in Kota Bharu over RM860.3bil RCI case
Two former Tabung Haji executives will be charged at the Kota Bharu Sessions Court tomorrow over the RCI into the disposal of RM860.3 billion linked to a Saudi property project. The MACC said it obtained permission to charge the former deputy general manager (construction) and former project manager. Separately, former minister Jamil Khir Baharom and four others were charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today.

Three tonnes of catfish spill onto road in Besut after lorry hits hump
A lorry carrying three tonnes of African catfish hit a road hump in Kampung Padang Luas, Besut, causing its rear gate to break and the fish to spill onto the road. Members of the public helped collect the fish and return them to the driver; no fish died, though some were injured. The fish were being transported to a newly opened fishing pond near Pelagat for a competition on Sept 19.

Paralysed Kelantan worker sells pickled fruit to rebuild income with Perkeso aid
A 40-year-old electrical worker in Tumpat, Kelantan, who was paralysed for almost a year, is walking again with a stick and selling pickled fruits and locong at wet markets to support his family. JANM adopts SK Belimbing as MADANI 2026 adopted school
The National Accountant's Department (JANM) has adopted Sekolah Kebangsaan Belimbing in Tanah Merah, Kelantan under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI 2026 programme. JANM provided 22 Android Smart TVs and eight air-conditioners, installed in stages from 13 June. The programme involves cooperation between JANM, the Kelantan State Education Department, the Tanah Merah District Education Office, the school and its parent-teacher association.

JPJ Kelantan seizes 12 vehicles in extreme modification op
JPJ Kelantan seized 10 cars and two motorcycles with extreme modifications in Ops Ekstrem around Kota Bharu last Friday. A total of 131 notices were issued, including 52 P22 summonses and 12 seizure notices. From January to date, 18 Ops Ekstrem operations were conducted with 5,616 notices issued.

Two women electrocuted at Besut fish pond, UiTM trainee among dead
A 27-year-old UiTM student undergoing practical training and her 49-year-old employer were found unconscious and later pronounced dead at a fish pond in Pantai Air Tawar, Besut. The husband of the student discovered the two women lying on top of each other when he arrived to pick her up for lunch. Police have classified the case as a sudden death report.

18 motorcycles seized, four held in Ipoh street gang operation
Police in Ipoh, Perak, conducted an integrated operation against street gangs at Jalan Pasir Puteh near Station 18 early this morning. 30 inmates at Machang Rehabilitation Centre join tahfiz programme
Thirty inmates at the Machang Rehabilitation Centre in Kelantan are enrolled in a structured tahfiz programme, with two having completed memorising all 30 juzuk of the Quran. The husband of the late Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin has thanked the Federal Government, Sarawak state government and Kelantan state government for helping manage his wife's remains. Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad led funeral prayers for Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, 33, at Al Karomah Mosque in Mukim Baung Besar, Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, with over 1,000 congregants attending. The medical officer was one of five killed when a BO-105 helicopter operated by Layang-Layang Aerospace crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport runway in Miri, Sarawak, on Tuesday. Her remains arrived at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport earlier in the day.

Dr Ainul Baraah's body arrives in Pengkalan Chepa for burial

She was among five people killed in a BO-105 helicopter crash near the STOLport Long Lellang runway in Sarawak last Tuesday. She will be buried at the Sri Kedeper Islamic cemetery after Zuhur prayers.

Pasir Puteh youth crafts wayang kulit puppets, takes orders nationwide
Muhammad Airell Amsyar Anuar, 19, from Kampung Banggol Pak Esah in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, has been making wayang kulit puppets since he was 15 and now receives orders from across the country. His puppets sell for between RM150 and RM700, with each piece taking two days to a week to complete depending on the design.

Muhammad Qayyim Nizar Sarimi, 28, who has been blind since birth, completed his Bachelor of Tahfiz al-Quran (Management) degree at Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Ismail Petra (KIAS) in Nilam Puri. The 2023 International Quran Recitation champion received his scroll at KIAS's 26th convocation ceremony at Dewan Johor, KIAS.
