Six Malaysian men were sentenced to jail in Singapore on Sep. 14 for an armed gang robbery at a Good Class Bungalow in the King Albert Park area. The group, armed with machetes and baseball bats, tied up 11 people and stole about S$4.9 million from a high-stakes poker game on Apr. 18, 2024. A seventh man remains at large and is believed to have left Malaysia for Thailand.

A 31-year-old Singaporean man, Cheong Melvin, was sentenced to 13 weeks' jail, fined S$3,400 and disqualified from driving for five years after driving while suspended and showing police a screenshot of a former employee's driving licence. He had reversed into another car at Cardiff Grove in Serangoon Garden on Jan 26, 2025, and also abandoned a vehicle on an expressway after a separate crash.

NParks investigated and said he is a community cat caregiver who was trying to bring an injured cat to a veterinary clinic; the cat later escaped and was seen back in the neighbourhood.

Indranee: Greenery, heritage sites only considered for housing when no other land available

Johor Bahru High Court quashes RM78.7m IRB tax assessments on Adamas Marine
The Johor Bahru High Court has quashed about RM78.7 million in tax assessments and penalties imposed on shipowner Adamas Marine Sdn Bhd. Judicial Commissioner Budiman Lutfi Mohamed ruled that the Inland Revenue Board used the wrong framework to determine ownership of the company's 16 Malaysian-registered ships, and ordered the assessments from 2007 to 2023 to be set aside.

Grab to grow AV fleet to 50 vehicles, expand beyond Punggol
Grab will expand its autonomous vehicle fleet from 10 to 50 over the next six months and is preparing an on-demand point-to-point service in Punggol, with plans to extend to other parts of Singapore subject to regulatory approval. GFM Services wins extra RM37.4m Pengerang turnaround contract
GFM Services Bhd has received an additional RM37.4 million release order for major turnaround works at the Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor, lifting the contract value to RM104.16 million. The work was awarded to its 60%-owned subsidiary Shapadu CR Asia by Pengerang Refining Company and is expected to start in March 2027.

GFM Services' Pengerang turnaround orders rise to RM268.7mil after revision
GFM Services Bhd said the combined gross estimated value of four release orders for the first major turnaround cycle at the Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor has risen to RM268.7 million. The increase follows a revised release order from Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd to its indirect 60%-owned subsidiary Shapadu CR Asia, which lifted that package by RM37.4 million to RM104.2 million.
