Grab to grow AV fleet to 50 vehicles, expand beyond Punggol
Grab will expand its autonomous vehicle fleet from 10 to 50 over the next six months and is preparing an on-demand point-to-point service in Punggol, with plans to extend to other parts of Singapore subject to regulatory approval. The company says its AVs have travelled over 110,000km and served more than 12,000 riders, and it is working with LTA on a depot and new AV roles.

Woman sues Sheng Siong over trolley of rice bags hitting her foot

Pasir Ris bedroom fire: two taken to hospital, 20 evacuated
A fire broke out in the bedroom of an eighth-floor HDB flat at Block 722 Pasir Ris Street 72 on the morning of Sept 13. Two people were taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation and about 20 residents were evacuated as a precaution. SCDF said preliminary findings point to an electrical origin and reminded the public about safe use of electrical appliances.

About 500 participants joined the 16th Sukan Harmoni at Our Tampines Hub on 13 September, a cross-religious sports event organised by MUIS and the Taoist Federation of Singapore. Over 200 artworks shown at Shaping Hearts 2026 in Punggol
Shaping Hearts 2026, an annual inclusive arts event by North East CDC, is displaying over 200 works by artists with disabilities at Punggol Digital District from 12 to 27 September. Among them is a strawberry artwork by Syarifah Alawiyah Alaydrus Syed Abdul Kadir, 8, a CPAS student with osteogenesis imperfecta. The sixth edition features four interactive playgrounds themed Texture, Movement, Rhythm and Visual.

Three traffic police officers under investigation after unsafe riding video goes viral
Three Singapore Traffic Police officers are being investigated after a dashboard camera video circulated online. The footage, said to be recorded at 3am on 4 September at Ubi Avenue 3, shows them riding unsafely, including cutting in front of a car and forcing the driver to brake suddenly. Police said appropriate action will be taken.

171 Sungai Kim Kim victims win suit; factory and two Singaporean directors liable
The Civil High Court in Johor Bahru found a used tyre processing factory, its two Singaporean directors and a lorry driver liable for the 2019 Sungai Kim Kim toxic waste dumping in Pasir Gudang. The 171 plaintiffs won RM100,000 in costs but failed against eight other defendants including the Johor state government; damages will be assessed later.

North Korea fires short-range ballistic missiles from Wonsan area
North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the sea off its east coast early Saturday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The missiles flew about 250km and were tracked by South Korean and US authorities, who shared information with Japan. RLAF collects funds at 70 Singapore mosques for Nepal-Tibet flood victims
The Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) is running a donation drive at 70 mosques in Singapore until 14 September to help victims of floods along the Nepal-Tibet border that struck on 26 August. Man found dead in 1.5m drain near SMK Tun Hussein Onn, Butterworth
A man was found dead in a 1.5-metre-deep drain near SMK Tun Hussein Onn on Jalan Siakap, Taman Kelisa Emas, Butterworth, today. The Perai Fire and Rescue Station received a call from police at 12.10pm to help lift the body, and the five-member operation ended at 12.47pm. The body was handed to police for further action.
