RCI report on Tabung Haji losses leads to arrests, ex-minister charged over RM860m
Malaysia's Royal Commission of Inquiry report into Lembaga Tabung Haji, released in July 2026, has led to several arrests including a former government minister over the misuse of RM860 million in pilgrims' funds. The inquiry found irregular investment processes, creative accounting and concealed information behind losses of nearly RM13 billion before 2018, when the government spent over RM10 billion to rescue the fund.
