Abang Johari: Sarawak can be a developed state by 2030
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg said Sarawak can become a developed, high-income state by 2030 through close cooperation between the GPS state government and the Federal Government. Speaking at the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration in Kuching, he welcomed the Prime Minister's assurances on MA63, a revenue-sharing formula and tourism as a shared matter.

Sarawak, federal government to set revenue-sharing formula under Article 112D
The federal government and Sarawak will determine a revenue-sharing formula as provided under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution. Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said he appreciated the agreement, which he raised alongside developments on Sarawak's rights and interests, in a speech at the national-level Malaysia Day 2026 celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. He also welcomed the agreement to place tourism on the Concurrent List under the Ninth Schedule.

Hajiji: Sabah to keep pursuing MA63 rights through federal talks

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has carried out 2,403 Rahmah MADANI Sales Programmes across Sarawak from 1 January to 31 August this year. Minister Armizan Mohd Ali said the programme has grown each year, from 736 series in 2023 to 2,584 in 2025, and is now a permanent government programme.

Sole KDM assemblyman says he stays in the party

MCA open to discussing 'borrowed seats' within BN, says Wee Ka Siong
MCA is willing to discuss seat allocation or 'borrowing seats' with fellow Barisan Nasional parties to ensure the coalition's victory at the next general election. Aminuddin urges Negeri Sembilan folk to defend royal institution
Former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun called on the state's people to unite in defending the royal institution amid the dispute over Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir's position as Yang Dipertuan Besar. DAP's Bahau assemblyman Teo Kok Seong said a statement purportedly issued by Negeri Sembilan exco members declaring Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir's removal as ruler does not represent the state government's official position. Negeri Sembilan DAP chief J Arul Kumar urged Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim to clarify the state government's stand after contradictory statements emerged from the same exco meeting. The dispute follows Ismail's earlier statement that he had no power to unilaterally remove the Yang Dipertuan Besar.

National Day and Malaysia Day celebrated in Pretoria
A reception marking Malaysia's 69th National Day and 63rd Malaysia Day was held in Pretoria, South Africa, hosted by the Malaysian High Commission with about 200 guests. S'pore citizens get 6 months' free premium AI tools after eligible course from Sep 16
From Sep 16, Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above who complete an eligible AI course will get a six-month free subscription to one premium AI tool. Courses must start from Sep 1 and be booked through MySkillsFuture, with over 160 courses carrying the 'Free AI sub' label. The SkillsFuture AI Subscription initiative was first announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Budget 2026.

Sarawak records RM116bil investment since 2020, says Awang Tengah

WEF: women hold 19.3% of AI engineer roles as parity gains stall
The World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2026, published in Geneva, says the world is closer to gender parity than at any time in 20 years but progress is fragile and reversing in political empowerment. Women make up just 19.3% of AI engineers and are concentrated in lower-paid data annotation work, while the share of women founders with AI engineering skills rose to 8.7% in the first half of 2026. Southern Asia remains the lowest-scoring region for economic participation at 40.9%.

Lawyer Rosli Dahlan disputes Negeri Sembilan exco statement on ruler's removal
A lawyer has questioned the validity of a statement issued by the Negeri Sembilan executive council declaring the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as the state's ruler. Abdul Hadi gives statement to police over alleged US interference
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has given a statement to the Royal Malaysia Police over an investigation into claims that the United States offered cooperation to topple the Barisan Nasional government in 2014. The statement was made several days ago in Kuala Lumpur, and police have recorded 12 statements so far under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
