Tower Transit seeks four commuters who helped unresponsive bus driver in Hougang
A Tower Transit bus driver became unresponsive behind the wheel while approaching a bus stop in Hougang Avenue 3 on Sept 14. Four commuters and an SBS Transit driver helped stop the double-decker bus and call for an ambulance; the driver is in stable condition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Tower Transit is now trying to find the helpers to thank them.

Rainforest Wild Adventure East wins BCA inclusive design award
Rainforest Wild Adventure East at Mandai Wildlife Reserve is one of four projects to receive the Building and Construction Authority's Universal Design Excellence Award this year. Its Canopy Glider ride has removable side guards and armrests, a portable ramp and free wheelchairs, while the park also offers Braille signage and an accessible changing room. Woodlands residents douse corridor fire with hose and pails before SCDF arrives
A shoe rack in the eighth-floor common corridor of an HDB block in Admiralty Grove, Woodlands, caught fire on Sept 14. Neighbours used a home fire extinguisher, the communal hose and water pails to put out the flames before firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.

Kopitiam founder sues contractor over unfinished Whitley Road houses
Lim Bee Huat, founder of the Kopitiam foodcourt chain, is suing contractor Tiandi ACMV Engineering over allegedly abandoned and defective building works on two adjacent houses in Whitley Road, Singapore. He seeks about $456,000 to complete and rectify the works plus damages for loss of use, while Tiandi denies liability and counterclaims $1.14 million under the $3.5 million contract. The High Court trial began on Sept 14 and is set to run until Oct 15.

A couple has been jailed and fined in Singapore for keeping and selling puppies without a licence after smuggling them in from Malaysia. ICA officers found two Pomeranian puppies hidden in a friend's vehicle at Woodlands Checkpoint. The wife received 19 weeks and 3 days' jail plus a $5,000 fine, and her husband the same sentence.

In Punggol, 24-year-old Sherman Seng works as a safety operator for Zig Driverless, a ComfortDelGro unit, monitoring autonomous shuttle rides that began in April. Woodlands North RTS station finished, cross-border service set for 2027
Singapore's Land Transport Authority said on Sept 4 that the Woodlands North station on the Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link is complete, keeping the line on track to start passenger service in 2027. The 4km link will join Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands North, where travellers can transfer to the Thomson-East Coast MRT Line, with capacity for 10,000 passengers an hour each way. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Malaysian-side station and rail infrastructure is finished and integration testing between the two countries has begun.

Binjai Crest resident loses bid to remove security barrier, ordered to pay S$8,000
A resident of Binjai Crest, a strata landed estate in Bukit Timah, Singapore, failed to get the Strata Titles Board to order the removal of a security barrier installed at the main entrance. Six men were jailed on Monday over an armed robbery at a luxury bungalow in Singapore's King Albert Park area in 2024, in which $4.9 million in assets were stolen. The gang fled Singapore immediately and moved the loot to Malaysia. A seventh suspect is still at large and is believed to be in Thailand.
