MACC officer tells court no immunity deal with Azman in Muhyiddin trial

Bandar Utama school stabbing: 15-year-old boy freed after mental disorder defence
A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Bandar Utama last year has been acquitted of murder by the Shah Alam High Court on grounds of mental disorder. The court accepted the defence under Section 84 of the Penal Code that he was temporarily insane at the time. He will receive medication and counselling at a mental hospital until medical officers assess him fit to rejoin society.

NGOs Mandiri and HAYAT will legally challenge the freezing of their bank accounts after claiming they received no clear explanation from authorities. Both organisations have appointed lawyers and say the freeze also affects the personal accounts of their executive directors. Former Buycar2u director charged with 71 counts of cheating RM4.7mil
A former director of a used-car trading company, Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty at three Sessions Courts in Kuala Lumpur to 71 cheating charges involving RM4.7 million. The charges relate to businessman Wong Yoong Jed and transactions at several bank branches in Kuala Lumpur between 5 July and 3 August 2022. The court set bail totalling RM215,000 with one surety and fixed mention for 16 October.

Teen acquitted of schoolmate's murder after court finds him insane
The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted a 15-year-old boy of murdering his 16-year-old schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama last year, ruling he was of unsound mind at the time. Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ordered him detained and treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak at the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor. 472 foreigners detained in Immigration raid at Lebuh Pudu
Kuala Lumpur Immigration detained 472 foreign nationals in an integrated enforcement operation at Lebuh Pudu, Kuala Lumpur today. About 2,500 foreigners were checked in the operation that began around 11am, involving nationals from Bangladesh, Myanmar, the Philippines, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, China, Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia. Those detained will be placed at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot for further investigation.

Immigration raid at Lebuh Pudu nets 472 undocumented foreigners
An integrated operation at Lebuh Pudu in Kuala Lumpur today detained 472 foreigners suspected of lacking valid documents after about 2,500 people were checked. The raid also uncovered premises believed to be a prostitution centre and a clinic run by a fake doctor. All those detained were taken to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot for further action.

Former minister expected to be charged in KL Sessions Court tomorrow over TH RCI

Former judge assault: textile tycoon and another ordered to enter defence
The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has ordered Gulati's Silk House owner Pavitar Singh Manjeet Singh and Nor Imran Nordin to enter their defence on charges of abetting grievous hurt against former judge Jagjit Singh Bant Singh. The screwdriver attack occurred near Solaris Dutamas on 19 Oct 2023 and is believed to have stemmed from a family dispute. Two other attackers were sentenced to seven years' jail after a prosecution appeal.

Army officer murder case: chemical report due 13 October
The Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court has fixed 13 October for the chemical report in the case of Captain Jad Faid Arhan, 31, accused of killing Bangladeshi influencer Muzahid Millad, 22, in a crash on the Maju Expressway (MEX) on 23 April. The same date was set in a separate traffic court for two charges of driving under the influence that seriously injured an e-hailing driver and a woman passenger.

Woman hurt as car flips after hitting raised road fixture in Petaling Jaya
A 46-year-old woman was injured when her Honda City overturned after its left tyre struck a raised metal road fixture on Jalan Gasing-Jalan Templer in Petaling Jaya at about 7.10am. She was taken to Assunta Hospital for a leg injury. Police say the poorly maintained fixture caused the crash and are investigating under the Road Traffic Rules.

BERSIH demands Najib serve remaining jail term, rejects house arrest

Penang City Council mayor Datuk Rajendran P Anthony will be called as a prosecution witness in the corruption trial of former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng. Kuala Lumpur: Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim is expected to be released this evening after police failed to extend his remand. His lawyer said the application for a further three days under Section 420 of the Penal Code was rejected, and Azeez is due out before 5pm. He and two former TH officers had been remanded over a fraud case linked to TH hibah.
