Lorry driver threatens suicide after JPJ Selangor summons on PLUS highway
A lorry driver became angry and threatened to end his life after being issued a summons during a JPJ Selangor commercial vehicle operation on the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh today. Two express bus drivers also gave excuses of not knowing the lane rules, while another admitted driving in the right lane to rush a cargo delivery.

Taiping Hospital emergency department short of doctors, says medical officer

Two more remanded over fake vehicle ownership document syndicate in Perak
Two more individuals, a company owner and a car broker, were remanded for seven days until 21 September by the Ipoh Civil Magistrate's Court to assist a Perak MACC investigation. They are suspected of involvement in a syndicate forging vehicle ownership documents and bribing enforcement agency officers in Perak. The case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

Flood in Larut Matang and Selama: 76 evacuees at Dewan Changkat Larah relief centre

Lorry driver killed by falling rock at Keramat Pulai quarry
A 53-year-old lorry driver, M. Sivakumar, was killed when a rock crushed his vehicle at a quarry in Keramat Pulai, Kampung Kepayang near Simpang Pulai, Perak. Fire and rescue personnel from Simpang Pulai and Gopeng extricated him using hydraulic equipment, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sarawak launches Sarawak-Brunei-Sabah cross-border guidebook
Sarawak's Ministry of Transport and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation launched a cross-border operational guidebook to ease the movement of goods and passengers between Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah. The launch was held alongside a two-day workshop in Kuching reviewing two BIMP-EAGA land transport MoUs. Slope erosion at KM263.6 near Menora Tunnel fixed, route reopened, says Perak exco
A slope erosion on the North-South Expressway southbound near KM263.6, close to the Menora Tunnel and the Meru-Ipoh Utara stretch, was covered with waterproof sheeting and the route reopened within 24 hours. Perak exco Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said PLUS and the Malaysian Highway Authority are monitoring the site and drafting long-term measures including slope reinforcement, steel netting, satellite monitoring and CCTV. Heavy rain of 65mm, above the usual 40mm, was blamed for the erosion.

MADANI Kita programme reaches 17 locations nationwide this year, including Gopeng
Seventeen MADANI Kita (PMK) programmes will be held nationwide this year, run jointly by J-KOM and the Prime Minister's Department's PACU. J-KOM director-general Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali said the programme began on 27 June and has so far been held in Chuah, Kota Raja, Sepanggar and Simpang Pulai. The tour continues next week in Bayan Baru, Kuantan and Gopeng, where the event at Dewan Orang Ramai Rapat Setia targets about 2,000 visitors.

18 motorcycles seized, four held in Ipoh street gang operation
Police in Ipoh, Perak, conducted an integrated operation against street gangs at Jalan Pasir Puteh near Station 18 early this morning. Eighteen motorcycles were seized and four individuals detained for reckless riding, while 416 traffic summonses were issued. The operation involved 66 police and environment department personnel.

Firemen trek 2km up Bukit Perak Cave Temple to bring down Nepali man's body
A Nepali man was found hanging from a tree at the summit of Bukit Perak Cave Temple on Jalan Kuala Kangsar in Ipoh. Six firemen walked about two kilometres along a hilly route to reach the body and bring it down before handing it to police. The operation began after a call at 1.33pm and ended at 4.10pm.

Yokouchi, Taniguchi win 100km titles at Malaysia Ultra-Trail in Taiping
Japanese runners Yutaro Yokouchi and Mika Taniguchi won the men's and women's MY100 categories at the Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB 2026 in Taiping. Yokouchi finished the 100km race in 12:18:44, while Taniguchi clocked 15:37:54. The three-day event drew more than 2,700 participants from 63 countries.
