Former Buycar2u director charged with 71 counts of cheating RM4.7mil
A former director of a used-car trading company, Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty at three Sessions Courts in Kuala Lumpur to 71 cheating charges involving RM4.7 million. The charges relate to businessman Wong Yoong Jed and transactions at several bank branches in Kuala Lumpur between 5 July and 3 August 2022. The court set bail totalling RM215,000 with one surety and fixed mention for 16 October.

Teen acquitted of murdering student, sent to Hospital Bahagia
The Shah Alam High Court has acquitted a 15-year-old boy of murdering a female student at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, last October. Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ordered the teen to be placed at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak, after finding he was of unsound mind at the time of the incident.

SMART team returns from Nepal flood mission, all 11 in good health
The Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) arrived back at RMAF Subang Air Base at 2am today after its humanitarian and disaster relief mission in Nepal. The 11-member team had handed over equipment including drones to Nepali rescue teams searching for victims of flash floods and landslides. All members passed health screenings on arrival.

Jamil Khir charged with three counts over RM860m Tabung Haji disposal
Former religious affairs minister Jamil Khir Baharom was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Monday with three counts of causing Lembaga Tabung Haji to dispose of RM860.3 million to Saudi-based Al-Rawda. He pleaded not guilty and was granted RM300,000 bail with his passport surrendered; the case is set for mention on Nov 5.

Police probe insider link in RM2.91 million robbery at Pavilion Embassy
Police are investigating whether an insider was involved in a group robbery that caused RM2.91 million in losses at a luxury condominium on Jalan Ampang on 7 September. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the case is linked to the victim himself, and police have identified suspects but made no arrests yet.

Teen acquitted of schoolmate's murder after court finds him insane
The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted a 15-year-old boy of murdering his 16-year-old schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama last year, ruling he was of unsound mind at the time. Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ordered him detained and treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak at the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor. His lawyer said the defence proved insanity under Section 84 of the Penal Code and the prosecution failed to rebut it.

Malaysia SMART team returns from Nepal flood mission, all 11 in good health
The Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) arrived back in Malaysia at 2am today after its humanitarian and disaster relief mission in Nepal. The 11-member team departed Kathmandu on an RMAF A400M aircraft with a refuelling stop in Kolkata, and was confirmed in good health after health screenings at RMAF Subang Air Base. Its drones and other equipment were handed over to Nepali rescue teams searching for flash flood and landslide victims.

Jamil Khir pleads not guilty to three charges over RM860m Tabung Haji losses
Former minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to three charges under Section 403 of the Penal Code linked to the Tabung Haji royal commission of inquiry. He is accused of causing TH to dispose of assets worth more than RM860 million to a property development company, and was granted RM300,000 bail. Jamil Khir said he will defend himself and sees the proceedings as a chance to clear his name.

KPPA: Stop repeated errors in public sector human resource management
Public Service Director-General Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz called for an end to repeated errors in public sector human resource management by addressing root causes. 22nd Japanese Film Festival screens 14 films across five cities
The 22nd Japanese Film Festival began on 8 September in the Klang Valley before travelling to George Town, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu until 18 October. Fourteen Japanese films are being shown, including a retrospective of director Yamada Yoji and a Girl Power programme, with special Kokuho screenings at GSC Mid Valley and GSC MyTOWN.
