At Joo Seng Road in Singapore, a man was filmed picking up a community cat and attempting to place it into a carrier in a car boot. Woman who exploited two underage girls for prostitution to be assessed for reformative training; client jailed four weeks
A 20-year-old woman in Singapore pleaded guilty on Sept 14 to three charges including recruiting a person for exploitation and living on the earnings of prostitution, after exploiting two girls aged about 16. She will return to court on Oct 22 for a reformative training suitability report. One customer, Syahirul Daud Abdul Razak, 26, was sentenced to four weeks' jail for obtaining sexual services from the younger girl.

Six Malaysians admit armed gang robbery of $4.9m at King Albert Park bungalow
Six Malaysian men pleaded guilty in Singapore's High Court to armed gang robbery and money laundering over a $4.9 million heist at a good class bungalow in King Albert Park during a high-stakes poker game in April 2024. The masked robbers, armed with machetes and baseball bats, tied up 11 people and fled to Malaysia with cash, valuables and cryptocurrency. A seventh suspect remains at large, and sentencing is set for Monday.

Bangladeshi worker jailed 13 months, 2 weeks for Geylang fight and false robbery report
A 41-year-old Bangladeshi national was sentenced to 13 months and two weeks' jail after fighting an acquaintance near Lorong 14 Geylang and then falsely telling police he had been robbed of S$256 and his work permit. Bhuyan Md Ozzjal pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt and providing false information, with other charges taken into consideration. He had worked in Singapore for 16 years and hopes to keep working here.

North-South Corridor enters toughest phase as hard rock and tight tunnels slow work
Singapore's North-South Corridor has entered its most technically demanding construction phase, with hard rock, groundwater and tight spaces slowing progress. At Novena, tunnelling passes within about 1m of the North-South Line, requiring smaller excavation sections and extra ground support. The 20km project includes an 8.8km viaduct and 12.3km tunnel, with the viaduct expected to open from 2027.

Bukit Panjang condo MCST sues developer and four others over balcony concrete fall
The management corporation of Foresque Residences in Bukit Panjang is suing the developer, architect, structural engineer, railing engineer and subcontractor over alleged construction defects after a piece of concrete fell 20m from a third-floor balcony in February 2025. Tests later found about 60 per cent of balcony slab edges at Block 105 produced hollow sounds. The defendants have filed defences at the High Court denying liability.

Samsung Electronics Singapore held its first Galaxy Walkathon on Sept 13 at The Kallang, drawing more than 610 participants. The 5km walk supported the Singapore Heart Foundation's heart health movement and celebrated SG61, with participants clocking 6.1 million steps. ICA seizes ivory tusk hidden in tumbler at Keppel Entrance, arrests Indonesian crew member
A 30-year-old Indonesian crew member was arrested at Keppel Entrance Crew Office in Singapore on August 9, 2026, after ICA officers found an elephant ivory tusk concealed inside a modified tumbler in his baggage. He was transiting through Singapore and was referred to NParks for investigation under the Endangered Species Act, which carries fines up to S$500,000 and six years' jail.

Baker's Brew, now BB Atelier, in liquidation; 95% of customers refunded
Singapore bakery Baker's Brew Studio, which rebranded as BB Atelier in late 2025, has gone into liquidation through a creditors' voluntary winding-up. It ceased operations on Jun 1, 2026, closing its Great World City outlet, and says over 95 per cent of affected customers have been refunded. The company also faces civil suits, including one from PS.Cafe's operator heard at the State Courts on Sep 1.

Lee Hsien Loong joins 7.5km community walk, 79 children get $50 in Ci Yuan Day event
Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong joined a 7.5-kilometre community walk around Ang Mo Kio and Hougang on 13 September, covering 14 Residents' Network centres. Three traffic police officers under investigation after unsafe riding video goes viral
Three Singapore Traffic Police officers are being investigated after a dashboard camera video circulated online. The footage, said to be recorded at 3am on 4 September at Ubi Avenue 3, shows them riding unsafely, including cutting in front of a car and forcing the driver to brake suddenly. Police said appropriate action will be taken.

Crystal Jade has closed its Hong Kong Kitchen outlet at Great World mall in Singapore, its third outlet closure in 2026 after Hillion Mall and Suntec City.
