MACC officer tells court no immunity deal with Azman in Muhyiddin trial
An MACC senior assistant commissioner told the Kuala Lumpur High Court that businessman Datuk Seri Azman Yusoff was not given special treatment or immunity in exchange for testifying against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Anuar Bakri appointed Sentul district police chief
ACP Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam has been appointed the new Sentul district police chief, replacing Superintendent Jasni Zolpa. Government wants more M.V.15 inspection centres opened nationwide
The government wants more Motor Vehicle Inspection Centres (PPKM) dedicated to private ownership-transfer (M.V.15) inspections opened nationwide, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said. He said there is no cap on the number of operators and qualified companies are welcome to apply for licences, after the service was liberalised from a single-player concession to a multi-player licensing system. The CARSOME Academy M.V.15 inspection centre in Sungai Buloh launched today is the first run by an automotive TVET training institution.

Mother of stabbed student vows to keep seeking justice after accused acquitted

Private vehicle inspection centre launched in Sungai Buloh
Transport Minister Anthony Loke launched the M.V.15 CARSOME Academy inspection centre in Sungai Buloh today. He said private inspection centres meeting JPJ standards can cut congestion and waiting times for vehicle ownership transfers to under 20 minutes. The government has also set a uniform price for M.V.15 inspections at all centres.

Bandar Utama school stabbing: 15-year-old boy freed after mental disorder defence
A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Bandar Utama last year has been acquitted of murder by the Shah Alam High Court on grounds of mental disorder. The court accepted the defence under Section 84 of the Penal Code that he was temporarily insane at the time. He will receive medication and counselling at a mental hospital until medical officers assess him fit to rejoin society.

Former Buycar2u director charged with 71 counts of cheating RM4.7mil
A former director of a used-car trading company, Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty at three Sessions Courts in Kuala Lumpur to 71 cheating charges involving RM4.7 million. The charges relate to businessman Wong Yoong Jed and transactions at several bank branches in Kuala Lumpur between 5 July and 3 August 2022. The court set bail totalling RM215,000 with one surety and fixed mention for 16 October.

Teen acquitted of schoolmate's murder after court finds him insane
The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted a 15-year-old boy of murdering his 16-year-old schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama last year, ruling he was of unsound mind at the time. Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ordered him detained and treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak at the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor. His lawyer said the defence proved insanity under Section 84 of the Penal Code and the prosecution failed to rebut it.

Malaysia SMART team returns from Nepal flood mission, all 11 in good health
The Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) arrived back in Malaysia at 2am today after its humanitarian and disaster relief mission in Nepal. The 11-member team departed Kathmandu on an RMAF A400M aircraft with a refuelling stop in Kolkata, and was confirmed in good health after health screenings at RMAF Subang Air Base. Its drones and other equipment were handed over to Nepali rescue teams searching for flash flood and landslide victims.

MSU hosts two-day SDG-ESG symposium at Shah Alam campus
Management and Science University (MSU) and Times Higher Education held the two-day SDG-ESG Synergy Symposium from 3 September at the Performing Arts Theatre on MSU's main campus in Shah Alam. 22nd Japanese Film Festival screens 14 films across five cities
The 22nd Japanese Film Festival began on 8 September in the Klang Valley before travelling to George Town, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu until 18 October.
